Energy PR has been appointed by Gigaclear, the ultrafast pure fibre broadband provider, to manage its PR as the company expands to provide fibre-to-the-premises broadband to more rural locations across the UK.
The appointment has been made in response to an influx of new project wins for Gigaclear in West Berkshire, Gloucestershire and Essex. Energy PR will work alongside the internal communications team at Gigaclear to build brand awareness, while communicating the Gigaclear offering and boosting the company’s share of voice in the media.
The strategy includes media and community relations activity in the regions that are already connected to Gigaclear’s pure fibre network and those in development. Gigaclear currently has 32 rural villages live, offering Gigabit internet speeds up to 40 times the UK average to its customers, with more than 40 more under construction in Oxfordshire, Kent, Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, Buckinghamshire, Rutland and Northamptonshire.
Matthew Hare, Chief Executive of Gigaclear, said: "Broadband in the UK is developing rapidly as demand for fast and reliable Internet access accelerates. We aim to provide the best service possible in rural areas, and in addition to our own commercial investment, Gigaclear is working with local authorities to access the funding and support the Government programme, Superfast Britain. Energy PR is perfectly placed to manage and maximise the impact of our communications across the board and position the brand appropriately within the media as we continue to grow.”
In May 2015, Gigaclear secured £30 million in equity from investors Prudential and Woodford Investment Management (Woodford) to further accelerate the build of its new Fibre-To-The-Premises (FTTP) networks in rural areas.
Louise Findlay-Wilson, Managing Director at Energy PR, said: “Working with such a dynamic and innovative brand, which is already having a real impact in the broadband market place, is incredibly exciting. We’re looking forward to supporting Gigaclear with a communications programme that maximises the success of the business."
